DiMarco Landscape & Gardening is a small, owner-operated gardening company serving residential clients across parts of Northern Virginia, Washington DC, and Maryland. We specialize in garden maintenance and plant care, with a focus on quality, professionalism, and real horticultural knowledge.
The Position
We’re hiring a Part-Time Garden Maintenance Apprentice. This is a hands-on, apprenticeship-style role for someone early in their career who wants to learn gardening properly and build real plant knowledge. You’ll work directly with the owner on small residential gardens and gradually take on more responsibility as your skills develop.
What the Work Looks Like
You’ll help with the day-to-day work that keeps gardens healthy and beautiful:

Weeding, trimming, edging, and bed cleanup

Raking, collecting, and bagging yard waste

Planting and mulching

Soil work and hauling heavy bags of mulch/soil through garden areas

Learning plant identification and care

Assisting with small to medium installations

Loading/unloading and keeping the work van organized

Professional interaction with clients
Schedule & Seasonal Rhythm
This is a part-time, year-round position with seasonal variation in hours. Work is typically 3–4 days per week, approximately 20–25 hours per week over the season.
Workdays vary based on weather and workload, so consistent weekday availability is required. We prioritize applicants interested in continuing with the company beyond the fall season.
Winter work continues as weather allows, although snow and ice may occasionally cause extended pauses in the schedule.
One-way travel time is paid and gas reimbursement is provided.
Pay & Growth
Starting pay is $22/hour during the training phase, with structured opportunities for growth as skills, reliability, and independence develop.

Ability and willingness to drive independently to job sites across Northern Virginia, Washington DC, and Maryland
